I have seen Masala several times. Every time I get something new out
of
it.
I love it! This is a good time to see this film because it was made
after
the Air India flight was bombed. The story revolves around that event
and
has several scenes that are relevant to us now. It's one of those rare
movies that can be hilarious but still cover very serious issues such
as
racism, terroism, stereotypes, sexism, drug addiction, sexuality,
religion.
It's creatively written, directed and acted. I know some people didn't
like
it because it's dark and self-critical of Indian culture. Personally,
I
think it's ingenious and a must-see for all South Asians living in any
part
of the western world (canada, europe, usa, australia, etc).
