The period setting, the portrayal of the infancy of the Madras movie
industry, the passion for movies and acting the protagonist shows (I
forget his name, sorry) the early movie footages, the relationship
between the two men Karunanidhi and MGR, the subtlety with which the
political background is inserted into the story, Janaki(MGR's wife) and
her early years, the dialogue, the direction, lighting, the texture, the
Kerala lifestyle, images and traditions captured in film, his
relationship with his mother, the marriage scenes and the young couple,
Karunanidhi and the 'other woman', excellent, excellent, excellent!
The dialogue captured the elegant prose that the DMK party men had with
the language and it was pleasing. Ishwarya Rai as the first wife and
then later as Jayalaltha incarnate was credible.
The whole movie was done with great finesse and left you with a nice
feeling of time well spent watching it on screen.
