Sawnet - Bookshelf - Imtiaz Dharker
was born in Lahore in 1954, grew up in Britain and now lives in India.
She is married to Anil Dharker, former editor of Debonair and well-known
columnist. Her first book "Purdah and Other Poems" (Delhi: OUP) was
published in 1989, her second "Postcards from God" (Delhi: Viking) in 1994.
Her third book is a combination of the poems in the first two, and was
published in Engliand in 1997 with the title "Postcards from God". She is
also a documentary film-maker. One of her documentaries won the Silver Lotus
Award for the best short film in 1980. She is also an artist who has
exhibited her work in India and abroad. Her daughter,
Ayesha Dharker, is an actress.
